The pursuit of happiness is one of America’s promises to its citizens, enshrined in the Declaration of Independence. But today, Americans are a profoundly unhappy people.

I think this is a really fascinating post over at The Atlantic. Do you sense this lapse in joy yourself? Does this matter to you or is happiness overrated? What factors do you think contribute to these other societies success at happiness? As you can see from the note here, we are also behind most OECD () countries in the “Life Satisfaction,” “Work-Life Balance,” and “Sense of Community” categories. Sense of Community is a very important foundational requirement for civil society. What happened to America’s sense of interconnectedness and community?
