The current economic structure of the country is out of balance and favors a very small proportion of the rich over the rest of the country. America needs to reduce the power of major banks and corporations and demand greater accountability and transparency. The government should not provide financial aid to corporations and should not provide tax breaks to the rich.
This is a somewhat surprising figure to me. 76% of Americans in this poll either mildly or strongly agree with the idea of our government taking steps to overcome the inequality our country is facing. 60% of Americans STRONGLY agree with the statement. What happens to society based on democratic principles, when there is extreme economic inequality? How do we now when we have excessive inequality? How does it affect political rights?
