Would a Tax Receipt Help?

It is true that Americans do not always have an accurate understanding about how the federal government spends its money. They dramatically overestimate spending on foreign aid, to choose perhaps the most glaring example.

The Effects of a Tax Receipt | YouGov US Opinion Center.

What do you think?  Should Americans receive a receipt for their tax liability?  Several studies, like the one above, have found that even a receipt wouldn’t make us much happier about paying taxes.  Are we just disgruntled at ALL taxes?  Looking at this list, isn’t there something you think we should all contribute to?  Do you think this is a good idea even if studies so far have shown not too much effect?  Would is allow for more accountability in spending decisions for the American people?
